Celtic Singing Lessons
Date:
Tue, 10 Jun 2003
I have a long love of Scottish, Irish, and Canadian music. Lately
I've enjoyed singing the music of Nova Scotia, where my family has its
roots. I would like to get together with people in Eastern Connecticut
to sing Celtic
music.
I know a little Gaelic and am learning more.
I have recorded folk, Broadway, oratorio, and opera semi-professionally.
Besides teaching beginning to advanced voice, I give basic lessons in recorder
or piano. I also play guitar and fiddle but need people to jam with
to get back in practice.

Instruments
taught and played in performance/recording sessions (all styles of music):
5-string banjo (3-finger bluegrass style)
guitar (acoustic & electric, fingerpicking and flatpicking)
mandolin
dobro & slide guitar
pedal steel guitar
I have
been a private instructor of stringed instruments for more than 25 years.
My method focuses on techniques that allow the student to realize his or
her own style; it emphasizes feel, tone, neck knowledge, phrasing, and
a system I call 'melodic concepts'.
I also
maintain a lengthy live appearance schedule and work frequently in the
recording studio as a session musician and producer.
