Ceilidh House -- new Celtic Folk Life Center in Maine
Ceilidh House (say it: "KAY-Lee") is Maine's first Pan-Celtic School & Cultural Center.  Our mission is to provide a home for educational activities and performance events that celebrate the Celtic immigrant heritage of Maine and New England.  We're in the process of becoming a 501(c)3nonprofit organization, and we plan to cooperate with other local/state cultural organizations as well.
We welcome everyone with an interest in any of the Celtic cultures:
Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, Manx, Breton, Irish, and Galician.  We especially welcome anyone interested in supporting us as volunteers, donors, or sponsors of our organization, and invite you to contact us regarding the range of opportunities!

Interested in classes?
Classes and/or workshops in Celtic Harp, Fiddle, Tin Whistle, Irish Bagpipe, and Irish Set Dance are also in the works.  We're in the process of assembling a full faculty of Celtic dance, music, language, and art instructors, so if there's a subject you're interested in studying--or teaching-- please let us know.

We are a bluegrass/celtic/folk duet looking for a third.  We are both traditional bluegrassers for decades, but with eclectic folkie interests-- would like to form a small string ensemble with a broader traditional folk repertoir.  Ideally, tenor (country "tenor," that is) vocalist, confident in at least one traditional string instrument (guitar, fiddle, or cello would all work well); interest/background in traditional celtic would also fit very well.  We have in mind low-key for-fun gigging at local coffeshops/bars in the Bangor area.

playing... I'm into blues (Texas and Delta) but also deeply involved in studying the music of my heritage... the Celts. I would actually like to get a Celtic band together to play out and about. Maybe the new Moon Cafe and other places where there would be an appreciative audience. I play guitar (alectric, acoustic and bass), drums, bodhran (sp?), tin whistle, piano, mandolin (learning) and chanter (learning). I did start learning bagpipes, but between my job at the time (driving 300+ miles a day), the commute to Ellsworth was just too much. I am planning on continuing lessons at some time.
