I love making music with other musicians for home-brewed music and performances.  I lean toward traditional music (British, Balkan, American) but  if it's great music, that's great with me.  Topical music is also really important to me.  I am a so-so guitartist and a much better singer.

PHIL SHAPIRO AND CARRIE SHORE, the American Folk Tradition. Two voices, fiddle and guitar.  We do traditional American folk songs and tunes, and more recent songs written from the tradition.  Sturdy songs that can stand the test of time.  Many of our songs have choruses, and they encourage audience participation.  We are NOT singer-songwriters.
Phil (Ithaca) and Carrie (Binghamton) have played all over New York State and Pennsylvania since 2002.  We're looking for places to play where the audience comes to listen, and, we hope, sing with us.  The better the audience, the lower our guarantee.
Phil also offers Group Folk Guitar Lessons at Cornell University in Ithaca, open to the public.

The purpose of the Eastern Long Island Police Pipes & Drums is to promote and develop interest in piping and drumming as a marching unit, and to promote a friendly and fraternal spirit among the members of the band and the community. The band also encourages community interest in the musical sound of the bagpipes & drums, and the ethnic heritage that surrounds it. Through public demonstrations, competitions, and seminars, the band appears in the traditional uniform of the Celtic armies for all to see and enjoy. The goal of these public demonstrations is to encourage both the community and the band members to take active interest in exploring and learning about their ethnic heritage and to better understand themselves as both people and as part of an ethnic culture.
