Clanrye Synthetic Reeds

Clanrye Reeds (synthetic)
Clanrye reeds come in strengths: easy, medium, hard. They are costly, but they last much longer than cane reeds. They do not change with the weather or "play in". You can make them slightly softer by moving the bridle toward the vibrating end of the reed, but they are not adjustable like cane reeds.
There is a bridle about 1/16" wide at the top of the black shrink wrap, have to separate it from the shrink wrap with your finger nail.
We carry the most current version of the Clanrye reed made by Hughes and MacLeod.

**Chanter Reed Strength**
Using a Bagpipe Water Manometer and blowing a steady high A on your chanter.
This measures the airflow by how many inches of water are moved when the reed is blown.
Cane Reeds: Easy Reed: less than 28 inches Medium Reed: 29 - 36 inches Hard Reed: 37 or more inches	Clanrye Synthetic Reeds: Easy Reed: 20 -21 inches Medium Reed: 23 - 27 inches Hard Reed: 30 or more inches A Clanrye reed is usually softer than a cane reed of the same category (easy Clanrye is softer than an easier cane reed).

Hepburn Parlor Pipe/ Smallpipe Drone Reeds
If you have parlor pipes, they usually use a plastic practice chanter reed and cane parlor pipe drone reeds. These reeds work in many parlor pipes (better than the cane reeds).
Diameter of brass tube that goes into the stock of the pipe: 4mm.
The length of the brass tube may vary.
Diameter of the other end that has the white styrene tongue: 6mm.Bass tongue is 27mm long and 5mm wide.
Tenor tongue is 25 mm long and 5 mm wide.

These can work for some A smallpipes, also.
